KAREN B. GUTHRIE graduated with honors from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. With over 30 years experience, she focuses on estate planning and probate administration. She is a member of the California Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section, the El Dorado County Bar Association, and the El Dorado County Estate Planning Roundtable**. She has given numerous seminars on estate planning and health care powers of attorney.
Mrs. Guthrie has been actively involved in the community and region during the 35 years she has lived in El Dorado County. She has served as member and president/chair of the Marshall Hospital Foundation, Marshall Hospital Corporation, El Dorado County Airport Commission**, New Morning Youth and Family Services, Ponderosa High School Site Council**, Cameron Estates Community Services District, Soroptimist International of Cameron Park**, Marble Valley Center for the Arts, and the predecessor organization** to the Women’s Center. She has contributed to the formation of dozens of local non-profit organizations and provides frequent pro-bono assistance to these associations. She has received awards from the Volunteer Center, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International and Soroptimist International for her community service.
Mrs. Guthrie has also served on the ECHO project for bioethics issues in Sacramento and on the Assembly Judiciary Advisory Committee. She is a founding member on the Bioethics Committee** at the local hospital. She was a founding member of the Planned Giving Advisory Council of El Dorado County** which is now a committee of the El Dorado Community Foundation where she currently serves as a director. ** Charter or Founding Member

JANA ELLERMAN was raised in Texas, but moved to California after receiving her undergraduate degree from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. She obtained her law degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where she graduated with honors in 1986 and was a member of the law review and the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society.
Her early law practice focused on business and real estate matters where she served as general counsel for a large franchising corporation and later as outside counsel for a number of businesses, boards of realtors, educational institutions and individual clients.
In 1997 she and her family moved to El Dorado County where Ms. Ellerman now practices with the firm of Guthrie & Ellerman in Cameron Park, California. Her firm’s practice is devoted entirely to estate planning, trust administration, probate, conservatorships, elder law and related matters.
Ms. Ellerman is the chairman of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section of the El Dorado County Bar Association, serves on the Incapacity Subcommittee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the State Bar of California, is a member of El Dorado County’s Elder Abuse Task Force, and participates in several other professional organizations relating to trusts and estates.
She is a member of the Rotary Club of Cameron Park and is active in organizations supporting the local schools. She lives in El Dorado Hills with her husband and five children.
